Bengaluru is connected by air, rail and road to all the major cities of the country. Also, one can fly direct to Bengaluru from several international airports.

IISc is about 35 km from the Bengaluru International Airport named Kempegowda International Airport (BLR). One could hireeither an Airport Taxi near the terminal exit or book an Uber/Ola cab. Cabs will typically charge around ₹700-1200 (depending on time, availability and type of cab). A bus service operated by Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) runs from the airport to various areas in Bengaluru city. Service ‘KIA – 10’ will drop you to a bus stop near IISc. The institute is known as ‘Tata Institute’ to the locals and the bus stop to get down at while coming to IISc from the airport is thus called as ‘Tata Institute Bus Stop’. Cost for the bus service is around ₹250. Additional information on the airport can be found at its official website: more information regarding BMTC and route timings for KIA-10 can be found on its official website:

The City Railway Station (SBC) is about 7 km from the IISc campus. One can exit the train station from platform number 1 and board a prepaid taxi/autorickshaw/Uber/Ola (costs around ₹150). Majestic bus station (7 kms from IISc) is the central bus stand in Bengaluru and is just opposite the city railway station. If one happens to reach Majestic bus station by an outstation bus, a local bus going towards ‘Malleswaram’ or ‘Yeshwanthpur’ can also beboarded and the alighting bus stop can be ‘Tata Institute Bus Stop’.

The Yeshwantpur railway station is another major railway station in Bengaluru and is located less than 2 km from the IISc campus. One can take a ‘pre-paid’ auto from the counter located outside the exit gate. Booking an Uber/Ola is amore convenient option.

Once you reach IISc, the relevant important places within IISc (Guest houses, Conference Venue, Restaurants, Health Center, ATM’s/Banks) can be conveniently located using the following customized map link:
